Mar 5, 2009 New York City WebNLearn: Give Your Project Workspaces a Facelift
One of the most powerful features in Project Server 2007 is the Project Workspace, which is created for each project in the system. These SharePoint collaboration web sites not only come with several powerful features "in the box" such as Issue logs, Risk logs, and Project Document libraries that help project team participants share information, but because they're built using SharePoint technologies, you can also easily add more features and change the design of the Project Workspace -- without the need for any custom programming. MCTS Tony Zink, MSProjectExperts, will show how to give your Project Workspaces a facelift by manipulating the built-in features, adding new features, and changing the overall look and feel of this powerful project collaboration tool.
Mar 11, 2009 WebNLearn: Portfolio Management and "Governance" -- What's It all about?
Governance and enterprise portfolio management are complementary processes and techniques that are mandatory in order for organizations to successfully support corporate strategic objectives. Implementing a portfolio dashboard without strong governance processes in place just makes poor execution more visible. And governance processes alone won’t allow executive decision-makers to continually evaluate the ever changing business environment or adjust IT priorities to effectively support the changes. This presentation will show the steps to creating a highly functional PMO to improve the ability of any organization to balance budgets, prioritize efforts, and easily plan resource requirements to provide real value to the organization. Presented by Serena Frank and Rich Murphy, Managing Partner, EPK.

Feb 17, 2009 Atlanta: How to Apply Earned Value Management to Your Project Schedule
Most project managers have an idea of where they stand against their baseline schedule and budget. They say things like, "We are pretty close to schedule" or "We're about half done." However, it's better to be much more precise. Earned Value Management (EVM) gives you the tools and techniques needed to indicate where you currently are compared to your baseline schedule and budget. EVM also allows you to understand project trends so that you have a better understanding of the remaining work and cost needed to complete the project. This presentation provides an overview of EVM and how it is applied and integrated into your project. Note that this presentation is on the concepts of EVM. We won't be covering how EVM is used in Microsoft Project. Presented by Tom Mochal, PMP, president of TenStep.

Mar 6, 2009 Central Indiana: Preparing Your Organization for an Enterprise Project Management (EPM) Deployment (fee)
Whether you're thinking about implementing an EPM solution for the first time or planning a system migration, you should manage your deployment or migration like a project. All EPM deployments are migratory in nature. When an organization implements and EPM technology for the first time it migrates from a decentralized project management scheme to centralized project management scheme. It is not surprising, then, that system-to-system migrations require the same careful steps that apply to new implementations, even if you can execute them more rapidly. In this day-long workshop, you'll learn how to prepare your organization culturally, plus you'll gain hands-on experience in setting up migration requirements for a fictitious company.
