|
Event Synopsis: See what's new in Enterprise Project Management for Agile. Learn how you can use MS Project and Team Foundation Server (TFS) to manage Agile projects seamlessly. IT organizations can reduce costs, improve quality and deliver new software features faster. If you're implementing Agile in combination with Waterfall project management techniques, integration can be a big challenge. Selecting the Right Portfolio of Projects Considering Costs, Strategic Value and Resource Requirements
|
Abstract: In this session we will take a look at Project Server 2010’s powerful Portfolio Analysis features. First we will review the essentials to getting ready for portfolio selection (e.g., clearly identifying drivers and impact statements, ranking and prioritizing the drivers, importance of executive buy-in). Then we’ll build a portfolio of the project requests currently awaiting approval to proceed. We will evaluate the portfolio to compare strategic value against cost, save a few what-if scenarios (e.g., budget constraints, force in pet projects), and export them to Excel to present to management for final selection. We will also evaluate the portfolio in terms of resource requirements against availability (demand versus capacity), save a few what-if scenarios (e.g., delay certain projects, hire needed skill sets), and export them for management blessing. Finally, we will commit the appropriate portfolio scenarios to notify project teams they have received the green light!
