Linking MS Project to CADWorx or Navisworks model

An interesting question posed by an engineering manager where he is was told that “Apparently MS project can link to CADWorx or Navisworks model such that during a construction schedule, various model section highlight or flags come up as the schedule dates are reached.” Has anyone worked with this? My thought was that someone had done a hyperlink to the model file to check on status. Any other opinions?
