Hi Rob —
There are several ways to skin this cat in Project Server 2010. You can use the ‘Resource Availability’ views in the PWA Resource Center, the ‘Analyze Resources’ tools in the Portfolio Analysis area, the usage views in Project Professional (in a master project, assuming that you want to look across your entire organization), or the Excel reporting tools in the Business Intelligence (BI) Center.
The best tool for you really depends upon what you are trying to accomplish. If you need a simple view of people’s workloads, you may be able to use the ‘Resource Availability’ views in the Resource Center. If they’re close to what you need, but they need to be tweaked a bit, then I would recommend cracking open Excel (2007 or 2010) and building your own report in the BI Center.
If you need to move things around and run ‘what if’ scenarios, then you may need to use a master project in Project Pro or the ‘Analyze Resources’ tools in the Portfolio Analysis area.
Can you be a bit more specific about your ‘Resource Capacity Planning’ needs?
