Hi Daniel, How to tell a valid copy of any software from MS is detailed here https://www.microsoft.com/piracy/ . As with buying anything 2nd hand or privately, caveat emptor.
Alternatives are via a subscription (technet), or maybe office365 in the future. I don’t know any discounts available.
