I’m working on a contract and staying under the budget. I used the Work column to enter the planned hours for each task and I use the Actual Work column to track how many hours have been spent on that task. One task’s Actual Work is more than the Work originally planned. When I update the Actual Work, MSProject updates the Work column to match. How can I show on my plan that the task took longer than planned and that it went over the time budget?
You set a baseline. Then track Baseline Work against your Work. Think of the work value as Estimate to Complete work. It will always change depending on Actual Work entered or Remaining Work entered.
