Is it possible to link data between Ms Project and Ms Excel? If yes how?

True linking? Not easy, but there is this: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Link-or-embed-Excel-data-into-Project-f13716f5-2eb5-4e20-9b8d-0cf33a100b15?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US&fromAR=1 – but I’ve never had much luck with it. And I’ve not seen an add-in lately that works either 🙁

Jigs has a good point. Question for you is what you mean by linking data between Project and Excel. If you are looking for a dynamic link between the two applications, that doesn’t exist. There is a feature that allows you to import or export to/from Project and Excel if that works. One MPUG article from Ellen Lehnert is here: https://www.mpug.com/articles/ask-expert-import-excel-data-project-tips-troubleshooting/. There are also other description online. Hope that helps…

As Jigs says, there is “some” connection.
You can copy-paste as a link.
It works in both ways, the huge issue is the refresh rate.
For example, I tried to use it to send and retrieve data from excel to be calculated in MS Project. It works, but when I tried to use Crystal Ball in Excel, to simulate scenarios, I had to do it “step by step”, because the changes in Excel are very fast, and the return for the results in MS Project has a “delay” that makes impossible to work with those numbers in a fast way.
