Modifying Date format to exclude year for Timeline View

There are several ways to change the date format for the gantt chart and the project plan in MS project such as using the options panel. However, there is no way to change the date format for the timeline. It continues to display the year as part of the date regardless of any changes that are made to the options panel, changing the format option at the top, etc. I am working with MS project 2010. Is this a bug in the software?

Amy, when you refer to the format option “at the top” I assume you mean the Date Format option on the Timeline Tools ribbon (if not, check there). This only affects the tasks but not the timescale or start/finish. The timescale is variable to the duration of the project so this makes “some” sense. Sorry but your option is to export the timeline to another office product and manually format it as you want. Hope this helps…
