Home › Forums › Microsoft Project Discussion Forum › Project 2013 not saving newly added subprojects to consolidated master project
Hi All
I’ve created a consolidated plan in Project 2013 and added several subprojects successfully and this is working well. However, I now need to add further subprojects – initially this looks OK, I then save the consolidated project and all appear well but when I re-open the consolidated project the new subprojects are not present. I’ve tried this several times but always with the same result.
Any help would be much appreciated
Thanks
Is there any errors during this process? Is the project and sub projects all in the same location? When you say you can’t see them, are they inserted projects to the master that are no longer inserted. It’s strange and no definitely answer. It sounds like something is going on with the save…??
Thanks Larry
There are no obvious failures with the save – appears to complete OK and the save date/time is correctly updated when viewed in Explorer. All projects are in the same folder. The subprojects are displayed correctly prior to the save but when I close and re-open the consolidated project they have disappeared. I can add them again OK but the same thing happens on a subsequent save.
As you say, something must be going wrong with the save but it’s very strange – I just wondered if anyone had encountered this before and had a solution.
Think I’ve sorted it. I was adding the subprojects while the consolidated project was showing ‘All subtasks’. This meant the new subprojects were added as new tasks to the last open subproject rather than individual subprojects. When opened again after the save then these disappeared. Changed the consolidated view to ‘Hide Subtasks’, added the new subprojects (these now inserted correctly as individual subprojects), saved the changes, re-opened and all now OK
Thanks for your time and help on this – reallly grateful and good to solve it
Well, I wouldn’t have thought of that one so glad you found it on your own. Glad you got it figured out…
