Is there any way one can represent competence (or skill level) of a resource. For example for a normal resource (100% productivity) if it is taking 10 days of duration to complete, for a person with 25% more productivity, it may take 8 days for the same task. Can a user defined field help? I am sure one can write a code etc. to do that. Is there any work around (easier way out)?

Ulhas, good question but Project doesn’t have that feature at least out of the box. You might be able to code that feature in but my guess is that it would be a difficult task. Hope that helps…

Yes, while MSP does not have a productivity flag / formula, you can just flag the resource as a fast worker and assign the worker the normally-expected duration for a task, until they have proven to be operating at a higher level of performance (people are not very consistent in real life). Once proven, the task duration can be adjusted to the new normal.Hope that helps!
