I am teaching PMs about Critical Paths (Critical Path, near Critical, False Critical, Important versus Critical, etc) and want to show Resource Critical paths. One way I way trying to show them is to look at the Resource Usage View and show tasks on the Critical Path. We are using Project 2007. Is there a way in the Resource Usage View to know which tasks are Critical Path? My point to them is that a Resource on the Critical Path may be doing a task on a non-critical branch immediately prior to the Critical Path task. Thus, the task on the branch becomes “Resource Critical”.
I do know that Project Pro developed a utility for Microsoft Project called Complete Critical Paths that helps to identify resource critical path. You can get additional information at: http://projectprocorp.com/products.php#Complete Critical Paths – version 2.0. Feel free to take a look and see if that helps.
