Strange behaviour of task type

I have the following scenario:
I have a 5 day task in MSP, Loaded (flat curve) with a resource working 8 hours/day. Calendar being same for task and resource.
While updating it on third day I have following actuals : Actual duration : 3 days , Actual work : 16 hours. (must be 24 as per planned)
And I reschedule the remaining work on 3rd day of my task.

Now I am expecting that remaining duration must show 3 days (showing as expected infact when task type is fixed duration), i.e extra 1 day to accommodate the pending work which was not completed on 3rd day, But in MSP its showing remaining day as 2 still (when task type is fixed unit and fixed work).
Please help me with it.

I suppose the option “Updating Task status updates resource status” (File > Options > Schedule > Calulation options for …) is turned off. Turn on this option, will update the resource status when task status is updated and reverse is also true.

Yeah its off. Cz i am updating using individual resource assignment. But i dont think it will help me with my answer.

It needs to be on as when the remaining work of 24 hours (this is the Resource status) is moved to future date, the remaining duration (this is task status) will also be updated to 3 days. If this is off, updating remaining duration will be 2 days and remaining work will be 24 hours.
