I’m running a master project with 4 sub-projects and some of my task IDs are missing. For example lines 0, 1, 6, 7 are the first 4 task IDs. Does anyone know why this might be and how to fix it?

Dan, the obvious check is to see if you have any filters turned on. To turn off all filter, re-select the No Filter view filter. This action turns everything off including both view and column filters. If that doesn’t work, select the Sort option and make sure tasks are sorted by ID. Hope that helps…

If the task IDs are still missing after clearing the filters as Larry recommends, then your missing IDs are most likely associated with “external” tasks in the linked sub-projects. Such tasks are hidden in linked master project views, and I’ve never found a way to un-hide them. You can confirm this by opening one of the linked sub-projects independently, with a view that displays the external tasks.

(Note: when you have a logic relationship between tasks in two different projects, an “external” task record is inserted into each project. Within each project, the external task represents the opposite end of the logic relationship; it provides a data link to the task in the other/source project and duplicates some of the associated task information. The duplicated information is used to mimic constraints of the relationship when the linked project is not available. Sometimes these are called “ghost” tasks.) Good luck, tom

      Thanks Larry, Tom,

Sorting and filtering are not the culprits. I thought both ends of a ghost link relationship were supposed to be visible (master and sub-project). If the links in the master are supposed to stay hidden then I’ll not worry about it.

BTW, if either of you have a clued why I can’t add a resource pool to my master project I’d love to know.
