Carlos – I followed your steps yet the 3 hours is not getting distributed across the duration of that assignment. By the way, which version of Project and service pack have you applied.
Daryl is right. Changing the duration affects the work assigned only to the assigned resource driving the task finish date. The workaround is to change assignment finish date of the other resource to task finish date so that Project can spread the work evenly till the finish date.
My answer is same “This generally happens because the other resources of that task have non-working day on day one (check the resource calendar or the base calendar tied to these resources) and so the work has to be scheduled from the day two onward.”
I have Greenshot installed (https://getgreenshot.org/), do a print screen and use Upload to Imgur to get the link to the uploaded image (like this https://i.imgur.com/X76v0FC.png)
Hi Kennet,
This is not a bug. This generally happens because the other resources of that task have non-working day on day one (check the resource calendar or the base calendar tied to these resources) and so the work has to be scheduled from the day two onward.
If this does not help, please send a upload the screenshot or let us know what was the work assigned to each resource when the task had 1 day as its duration.
Regards,
Sai
Carlos, In Resource Sheet view, change the base calendar of all the work resources to the new (base) calendar. This change will inherit the workweeks and exception of the bar calendar to the resource calendar.
Can you please share more details on which version of project, and is it client or online?
I suppose you are using Project desktop and not Project Online. In Project desktop it is not possible to protect customized views and tables. If they modify, you wish to reset it back to default then https://i.imgur.com/bGQSRMG.png (for views) and https://i.imgur.com/VMyowvc.png (for tables)
There is no one single place to compare and see the differences between Project 2019 and Project 2010. You can refer to https://support.office.com/en-us/article/what-s-new-in-project-2019-6be41c8a-c4b2-409a-9ef7-d250377ad3b7 to know “What’s New in Project 2019 Professional?”
Critical path uses different factors of task namely start, finish, dependency types, leads/lags and constraints. Critical path is calculated based on the early start and finish, late start and finish of each task and you can force a task to be in/out of the critical path.
Sudhakar – This is normal. As the work started late, the work is expected to finish late as its duration is same.
I agree with Larry, but you have close to solution using Manage My Resources’ Alerts and Reminders in PWA. Check this article https://support.office.com/en-us/article/get-email-reminders-about-your-work-in-project-web-app-2372c181-1c98-416a-9306-ac28f027334b#bkmk_managerteam. It describes how a project manager can decide which notifications your team needs.
Looks like you have the correct settings at the task. Is there any hard constraints (check Advanced > Constraint Type dropdown) on the task? Can you send a screenshot of the schedule that has this problem?
Thanks for sharing it across. I recreated the exact plan here and did not notice any differences between Timeline view and Print Preview. In your image, I noticed the two tasks are manually scheduled (Task mode). What is the start time of these tasks?
Can you a screenshot of the timeline to look at?
I suppose the PWA is configured with Project permission mode, if not click here to know how to change.
Project Managers, by default, are assigned to Project Manager security group. In this group, they can see all projects including their own in this instance.
To turn this off, click PWA Settings, Manage Group. Edit Project Managers group and remove My Organization from the Categories section.
