Thanks, Bob. I should have been more specific. I had been trying to find a way to draw progress lines. Especially getting it to roll up to the summary line. Because I’m trying to replace manually tracking progress on printed paper with tracking in the actual schedule file. I came to realize later that using baselines is a better way to view plan v…[Read more]
Thank you, but this doesn’t really help. I’m trying to set up a series of weekend work subproject files that should be updated by different resource groups. Then I can insert them into a master file and use a common piece of data on the task level of each subproject to group them together by job. Right now I can get by if I keep every task on…[Read more]
I would like to have a text column return the top level task summary name for every sub summary and sub task. I cannot find how to get anything other than just the task summary name, which only goes up 1 level. Any ideas?
Yes, there is something strange happening with flags or the steps in which I’m entering the tasks. Sometimes I have this issue, and sometimes not. I need to dig a little more to figure out what causes it.
I decided to try in a different schedule and have the same result. It seems like in order for summary tasks to roll up from one level to another on the Gantt chart, at least one task on the lowest level has to roll up as well. Otherwise no bars show up at all. Is there a setting for that? Or is it a bar format issue?
I have a different summary task roll up issue. I have a set of tasks on level 4, that I don’t want to roll up. I have the level 3 summary task set to roll up to the level 2 summary task. Level 2 is also set to roll up. But nothing rolls up to level 2, unless I mark at least on level 4 task to roll up as well. Then all level 3 summaries roll…[Read more]
I am making a schedule for an upcoming week long shutdown with multiple shifts. The night shift will run from 6pm-6am. So, some summary tasks will begin on one day and start on the next. For some reason, whenever this happens the duration is shown as zero and they are being formatted as both summary tasks and milestones. Any ideas why?
Thank you for the reply. Right now, I’m setting up a schedule for a project that hasn’t really begun. I’m trying to get the formatting correct before I fill in all of the detail. Then I’ll populate all of the future tasks as they need to get completed to finish each phase on time.
My company is accustomed to seeing schedule status with a…[Read more]
My company is all about progress lines. So, I’m trying to figure out how to get it to work correctly. It is really easy to turn the progress line on in Project 2016. But, it doesn’t always show the status accurately for Summary Tasks. If the status date is after a series of tasks that have not started yet, the progress line jumps all the way to…[Read more]
Hello, all. I cannot get bar heights to change on screen in Project Professional 2016. It seems to be a problem with my laptop. The bars will change in the same files opened on other computers. All of them running Windows 10. Has anyone had this problem? What is the cause/fix?
Hello, all. Does anyone know how to flag summary tasks? I want to flag them based on the summary task name. I would have thought either [Name]=”” or [Task Summary Name]=”” would do it. But neither work. [Name] only applies to actual tasks with that name, and [Task Summary Name] applies to all subtasks underneath the summary with that name.
