Awarded Community Leader for his very popular and comprehensive UK web training series, Ben Howard has over 20 years of experience implementing enterprise solutions such as MRPII, ERP, and Microsoft Project Online. He’s worked for IBM, DELL, and Microsoft, as well as several smaller organisations. He now runs his own EPM consultancy, Applepark Ltd, which provides Project Online implementation and training services.
Ben has been awarded the Microsoft Most Value Professional award for Project, has published the successful “Microsoft Project 2013 Plain and Simple” book, and is responsible for producing P2O, an application that takes Project tasks and exports them into Outlook. He tells us that Project Online continues to go from strength to strength, and that he continues to spend a large proportion of his consulting time helping organisations implement Project Online in order to streamline their project and resource management systems.
New products have begun to emerge, though, and according to Ben, the one that has had the single biggest impact is Power BI. Power BI provides insight into Project Online with a rich reporting canvas allowing users to view resource and project status. Ben’s taken Microsoft’s Project Online Power BI content pack and modified it to provide additional currency options and importantly, time-phased work and cost information. This modified Power BI content pack is available as a Technet download.
