With over 170 abstracts submitted, Microsoft Project Conference 2012 will cover a variety of
topics in-depth across three tracks: Business Value & Insights, Product Sessions, and Deployment,
Administration & Developer. Content highlights to date:
• 15 customer-led sessions (representing 6 verticals) where customers share personal success
stories using Microsoft Project and Portfolio Management (PPM).
• Project desktop best practices for scheduling, program management, Earned Value,
• Project Server best practices for Demand Management, Portfolio Analysis, Resource
Management, Time Management, Business Intelligence, and more.
• Key solutions overviews and case studies for Application Lifecycle Management, Innovation
Process Management, Product Lifecycle Management, Dynamics AX integration, ERP
integration, and more.
• Technical best practices for IT Professionals and Developers.
MPUG will be at the conference and have many of our experts on hand to answer questions. We will be around throughout the conference to answer any questions you may have.
The confererce agenda is in the process of being finalize. I will be speaking at one of the sessions as well as 12 other MVP’s will also be conducting sessions on a variety of topics. Many of the MVP’s will be in attendance and you should have ample opportunity to talk to experts to get your questions answered. I am not sure if they will be giving us identifying tags but when you find one of us, don’t be shy about asking questions.

I highly recommend attending the Microsoft Project Conference in the spring if you can… especially if you are implementing Microsoft Project Server next year. There are lots of educational and networking opportunities, and you can speak with the experts to get help, pick up some tips, or learn about some of the many pitfalls to avoid.
The next question is this: How many people can you send? It’s not only a matter of cost (registration fees, travel expenses, etc.), but also lost work days. It may not make sense to send all of your PMs for those reasons, but certainly send some of your key folks who will be implementing and supporting the system, and perhaps one or two key stakeholders or business champions. There are technical tracks for the people who will implement and support your system on an ongoing basis, and there are business and process related tracks for the stakeholders and decision makers.
As the even draws closer, you will be able to visit the Project Conference web site (http://www.msprojectconference.com) and view detailed agendas and topic descriptions.
For the people who WILL be attending, there will be a ton of information presented, so be ready to take plenty of notes and pick up literature to share with everyone else afterward. In past years, Project Conference attendees also received a DVD with session videos, but those usually aren’t shipped until several months afterward.

I have never been to a MPUG/Project Conference. Our firm has recently started implementing MS Project and project management. Currently we only have a select few working with Project but we want to fully implment Project by the end of 2012. Do you recommend sending all users to this type of conference or just the people who will be acting as administrators of the Project?
