      Hi

I recently upgraded from MS project2010 to 2013 now when copy and pasting from Excel to MS project the data often does not appear. Also when I select text from tasks from with in MS project i am unable to paste that text in to other tasks, it reverts back to something i have copied previously and pastes that.

      More details:
When in Excel i can copy and paste what ever i want and it works perfectly every time. However when in MS project 2013 I often do not get what i have copied or it pastes previous text or an event that i have copied previously. I have been using excel 2010 and project 2010 and they have been working perfectly. Since the change over to ms project 2013 it has all become far to hard to make things work properly.

any feedback or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have even thought of making a little video and posting it on you tube to prove that this is what is happening

      Hi,
I have exactly the same problem. Is there any solution?

Ups, sorry, i forgot the details:
What I want to do is:
      1) select and copy a list of task names from an excel template (standard plain text, no formulas) and
      2) paste it to MS Project “Task Name” column including the formatting.

      The problem:
Standard pasting by using the shortcut (Ctrl-V) does not work at all; will just leave the “Task Name” column empty, no error message.

      What does works is:
Copy in XLS -> MS Project: Insert -> Paste “Data as Text” (Sorry, I don’t know if this is the correct english term. “Textdaten” in german). But when I do this I lose the formatting, which, in this case, would be important to keep.
The Inserting Popup offers only two options: as Bitmap or Data as Text.

      Any ideas?

I was able to solve this. However, this is really crazy…not sure why Microsoft did not test it OR maybe the developer did test it and did not publish the test result to hide his/her ignorance. The solution:
      1. Select the text from Excel and do ‘Copy’
      2. Within Excel, go to another sheet and do ‘Paste Special – Values’
      3. Then select the text from the new location and do ‘Copy’ again
      4. Go to MS Project, and do ‘Paste’ in the cell
      5. This will copy the text in MS Project
The only reason I can think of is that new Excel (2013) has bunch of hidden formatting attached to Excel cells and MS Project does not recognize that formatting and therefore cannot paste it. Considering both are Microsoft products, you would think that they would have designed the use case for this scenario.

I copied the list of names from Excel 2010 to Project 2013, and don’t find any issues in pasting except the tasks will not be outlined; this is usual. Can you tell me what are you trying to copy from Excel 2010 to Project 2013 and where are you pasting these values to Project 2013?
