Working offshore in the Oil & Gas industry, we incur costs based upon a minimum 12-hour day for personnel and on a minimum 24-hour day for equipment. Is there a way to keep MS Project 2007 (or any subsequent version) from pro-rating these costs over a scheduled day of lesser duration? Changing Default Fixed Costs Accrual under Tools, Options, Calculations doesn’t seem to have the desired effect.
I didn’t actually test this so I might be wrong but did you try using a 12 hour calendar? You can also override this with a 24 hour task calendar for equipment.
Thanks for your reply. The calendar used doesn’t seem to matter. If there is a partial day the resource is still pro-rated. This normally occurs on the first day and last day of the project, but can sometimes occur during the project as well.
