I’m just starting to use the visual reports feature and I’m finding some limitations. I’m planning on trying to figure out how to build some custom reports for our organization. Rather than do that, I thought I’d see if some of them were already created by someone. In my quick searching, I did not find any good resources that offered up downloads of custom visual reports. I was very surprised by this. It seems like this could be a very easy thing for the project management community to share.

Do you know of any good resources out there for downloading an expanded set of visual reports?

Specifically, I’m looking for something similar to the cash flow report, with the following adjustments.

      1. Add a line for Baseline Costs
      2. Add a line that is a combination of Actual costs (to date) and estimates to complete (from today on)

We are looking for some as well. I was just talking with our Server Admin who was tasked with creating some Sql Reports and was curious about the same thing. I’m afraid we do not know of any Visual Reports outside of the standard installed.

You didn’t state whether you are referring to MS Project reports or Project Server. If you are referring to MS Project (I’m also assuming 2013), there are a lot of videos and MS Project books that include the new reports discussion. These do not require technical expertise which may be why you don’t see specific examples. For your Cash Flow report in MS Project, the total cumulative lines use Cumulative fields. For your specific request you don’t have a Baseline cumulative cost, all you have is Baseline Cumulative Work. Cumulative Cost would give you the Actual and ETC line. There are third party reporting tools out there but I don’t know off the top of my head if one of them will give you what you want. There are also many third party options for Project Server if this is what you are referring to. Good luck…

OK, I fiddled with creating a custom report. I can’t believe this isn’t standard in MS Project. To clarify, I’m talking about visual reports in MS Project 2010, not server. I’m looking for something that simply compares baseline projections to current projections. You can edit the “Baseline Cost Report” template to change the baseline cost to a cummulative value. I’m new to this feature, and I am surprised there isn’t a visual report sharing community out here. I’m sure there are folk with much better skills than mine that could really help out by sharing their creations. So I’ll start a new trend. Here is a link to my template, which you can add to MS Project 2010. I have not tested with 2013.

Looks like my report has a problem after the first year. Cummulative baseline is set back to 0 every year.

That sounds like a big bug. Thanks for keeping us up to date on your status. I don’t have an answer to that one…
