I have MSP 2010 on my local computer. We have a test environment in a SharePoint 2010 site. I am trying to see what features and functions work between these two programs. At this point it seems extremely limited and my guess is that this is because we do not have MS Project Server 2010 connected to SharePoint 2010.

So – I have two (probably connected ) questions….1) am I missing how to have useful functionality between my local MSP 2010 and SP 2010 and 2) if the answer to #1 is no, is this because we need to get MS Project Server 2010 interfaced (activated?) to achieve this?

      Thank you!

      Hi,

Project 2010 Professional will synchronise tasks to a sharepoint 2010 site.

Project Server 2010 can be installed as a sharepoint application, and then project plans published from Project Pro 2010 to Project Pro.

      That’s it in a nutshell!

Connect your teams by synchronizing with Microsoft SharePoint® Foundation 2010. Using Project Professional 2010, you can synchronize SharePoint Foundation 2010 and Project Professional 2010 project task status updates for you and your team members. You can also save your project files to SharePoint Foundation 2010 team sites to communicate plans and collaborate on progress.

Well – that is what I had hoped for in terms of capability…but….going to and from SP /MSP is riddled with errors and disconnections. I have Googled each issue with no progress so I thought perhaps it was because we did not have MSP Server for SP.

Most recently, when trying to Sync a project to SP, there is an error Unable to Write Informatin for Task X”. I have seen many threads that state the same problem, but not really any solutions. Would love feedback to resolve this!!

      Thanks
      Debra

I believe the 2013 version is much improved, but other than that, have no additional information for the 2010 version.

We use Project Server 2010 with Project, so I didn’t have any experience with just MS Project and SharePoint alone. However, after I saw your post yesterday, I ran into this blog post that you might be interested in…syncing MS Project to SharePoint.
