In the resource information dialog box, general tab, in the resource availability area, you can specify how many resources are available for given time frames. This is great for adding in a projected hiring rate and then seeing how soon a product will complete when leveling. What would make this even more useful is if there were a resource table view that shows how many people are available by period. This way you can see at a glance how many resources are available without looking at each resource one at a time. Fat fingering may not be obvious when looking at the resources one at a time. Even better if in this same view you could edit the resources!

Hey Joe you’re in luck. From MS Project, go to the Resource Usage view, view the timescale area by month, and select the Detail Styles. Not sure what version you are on but right click the detail styles area and then select Detail Styles. From there you can add rows like Unit Availability, Remaining Availability, and others. Have fun checking it out…
Hello Larry,
Thanks this will help out!
And to make this even slicker, you can add a field for grouping – maybe skill. Then when you apply grouping on this field to the Resource Usage view, you get the total for Work, Remaining Availability, etc. for the group.
