I’m trying to refine a Microsoft Project formula for converting durations to work periods.  I’ve come up with a specific formula but I want to generalize it regardless of which task calendar is applied.  Here’s what I’ve come up with so far….

      IIf([Task Calendar]=” 5d 8h Standard”,Duration/480,Duration*(8/12)/480)

Here the 12 denominator is based on the fact that I’m using a 5d 12h calendar in addition to the 5d 8h Project Calendar.  So I want to generalize the formula to convert Duration to Work Periods using a Number field.

      Task Calendar

      Work Periods

      DUR

TS-cd (Total Slack in calendar days)

      Name

      TS

      %

      Start

      Finish

      5d 12h Standard

      13.33

      20 d

      43.08

      Task 1

      31.25 d

      0%

      1/1/13

      1/28/13

      5d 8h Standard

      20

      20 d

      42

      Task 2

      30 d

      0%

      1/2/13

      1/29/13

You’ll note that similarly, the formula for TScd above is: ([Late Finish]-[Scheduled Finish]).  That allows me to see “equivalent TS” regardless of which calendar is used.

Therefore, what formaula will generally apply to convert duration to work periods?
