    Hello,

I am looking for onsite, in-person, instructor-led MS Project Professional 2016 training for 3 – 5 people in the Raleigh, NC area. We do not need an instructor that walks through click A and then B. We need an instructor who can help to understand the why’s (purpose and functionality of how things are set-up), relationships of how features work together, impacts of choices, and additional features that can help the team to be more efficient in their day-to-day management of project schedules.

My challenge is that in my general searches, I find that there is an agenda that looks more to teach the “how to’s” and not so much the “why’s.” These folks have been put into a role with no formal training, so they’ve been treading water for some time and have had to figure things out on their own, and each of them in their own way (not consistent). I come on board and find that I am like “big brother” (for lack of better phrasing).

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

    With kind regards,

    Kerry

I’ve asked the team what they want to gain from training:

“MS Project has been around for a long time, and it’s had features added along the way. There are likely productivity features and shortcuts I don’t know about which would make using the software more effective. In addition, there are many linkages between actions one can do on the software and I’d like to better understand those.”

“…value comes the team having a consistent training on understanding the relationship, impact, and outcomes (versus learning by trial and error).”

“…it would be awesome to learn the new features and functions of 2016 and to make sure we are doing our project management as efficient as possible.”

“I would definitely benefit from a refresher course.”

“The instructor led option allows the opportunity to ask questions pertinent to our day-to-day work that will benefit all.”

Kerry, I know exactly where you are coming from. Project is much more how you use it then what you know. I might be able to either help you directly or provide references. Feel free to connect via email and we can schedule some time to talk (lchristofaro@epmsolutionpartners.com). Thanks…Larry
