Hi, why does the MS Project 2013 Resource Pool Create Duplicate Material Resources When Merging?
My orioginal Resource pool, which has 400 lines of material work resources got corrupted, so i created a fresh pool.
But when the fresh pool looks at the linked files (i have 200 project files) it successfully merges the WORK resources and updates their hours accordingly, but when it comes across MATERIAL resources in one of the project files, instead of Merging into the EXACT same material resource in the pool, it creates a duplicate MATERIAL Resource. To fix this i have to havethe pool open, open the MS Projecrt File, unlink it from the pool, take not off all pipe lingths inmeters and quantities of vairous valves etc, rename the MATERIAL resource as for example “50NB X42 Steel Pipe TL WT=3.91mm” as “50NB X42 Steel Pipe TL WT=3.91mm OLD” then relink the file to pool, go to GANT view select ASSIGN resources, scroll down to the 50NB X42 Steel Pipe TL WT=3.91mm OLD entry hit REPLACE then go fin the real “50NB X42 Steel Pipe TL WT=3.91mm” in the resource list and check the LENGTH in meters is still correct, then go to the Resource POOL and can only now DELETE the duplicate entry because its Value is 0 meters. I have to do this for up to 20 lines of materials in 200 files. IS THERE A BETTER WAY PLLLLLEEEAAASSEEEEEE?
