      Hey all !

      I have been using MS Project in the past but now have a team of 12 that are all sharing Gant charts on Product Development schedules.

      The biggest question that keeps coming up is the following:

      “How do I schedule a task that takes 14 days to be completed, but also is required to be completed 30 days prior to the Launch (aka milestone)……

      What is the best way to do this knowing that there are obviously multiple tasks with the requirement “due X days before launch”….

      thanks so much

      Hey Rich;
      The easiest way to do what you’re looking for is to add a Lag to the relationship between the task and the Launch task. So, for example, Task A is a 14 day task that has a FS relationship to the Launch task with a Lag of 30 days.

      If Task A in my example needs to finish 14 days before Launch, meaning it can’t finish 65 days before Launch, then code Task A with a constraint of As Late as Possible. If you do this, Task A will be pushed as late as possible in the schedule but because of the 14 day lag before Launch, the end date of Task A will end up being 14 days before Launch.

      Hope that helps!
