I am a Project trainer, with a question about Project 2019. Are the user interface and features the same for Project Professional (on-premise), Project Online Professional (cloud-based) and Project with Office 365? I would like to develop only one class that students who use any of these versions can attend (in a classroom setting, using the Project Professional software I install on the classroom machines).

John, Project for Office 365 is the new name for the cloud version of what was Project Pro for Office 365. With some minor exceptions, Project 2019 is a snapshot of Project for Office 365 at a point in time. Microsoft’s “cloud first” standing then continues enhancing the cloud version until the next on premise licence, and the cycle continues. That may change in the future. Cloud version changes are constant, so you should continue to monitor updates. Hope that helps…

My class-ware attempted this back in 2015 (I’m retired now) and in that case I just setup a PWA on Project Server 2013 and gave students access to that. As I recall, Project Online was new, so I just demonstrated that on the last day of class. As Larry mentioned above, it’s a shifting landscape, so perhaps hardcoding interface details into the courseware is not a good idea. I saved all the “flavor” differences until the last day, and just focused 3 or 4 days on the basic mechanics of creating valid .mpp files. Best of luck! Jigs

      Guys,

I installed MSP 2019 deskop version but could not found Agile option/button. Can anyone tell me which version contains Agile/Kanban features?

@Talha Siddiqui Go to File / New and in the Search box type Agile. Select the template Agile project management – and off ya go. Best of luck, Jigs

The Agile feature is only made available in the subscription Project Online Desktop Client that comes with Project Online Professional or Premium subscription – not the 2016 or 2019 products.

If you want to know more about this feature look at this article from Tim https://www.mpug.com/articles/newly-released-agile-capabilities-in-ms-project/
