The IT team created a test instance of Project Server 2010 for our implementation team to use, we are currently using Project Pro 2007 and have been told the two are compatible.   I have admin rights to this instance and went into Server Settings -> Additional Server Settings to enable the Project Pro Compatibility mode and found the checkbox is grayed out (this has to be established during software installation I discovered).   Further research stated I could include one additional Project Pro version, I attempted to include our Project Pro 2007 version using a comma separator – this does not appear to have worked either.   Has anyone experienced this issue and if so, how was it resolved?    I’ve contacted the team that performed the install, I’ve not received a call-back.

What you are experiencing are standard rules.  (1) once you deselect (or never selected otherwise) the compatibility mode you cannot go back and it defaults to unselected in new installs.  (2) you cannot use Project Pro 2007 with Project Server 2010.

Thank you Larry.   My research resulted in the same conclusion, I had hoped there was a hidden magic button located in the dark depths of the application Smile    On the good news front, I was able to find a rather obscure area within my company in which I was able to upgrade to MS Project 2010 and have successfully connected to the test instance of Project Server 2010 – a true miracle.
