It seems that “Department” function (once is implemented – assigned to custom fields, resources, and projects), can only offer the ability to enforce if a field value is required or not.
Anyone know how to hide/unhide custom fields in enterprise without creating new specific view for each department.  For example if a custom field A is assigned to Department X and it is on a enterprise view/template, then when users from Department Y will not see that field when using the same common view/template.
Am I missing something on the usage of “Department” in Project Server 2010?

Custom fields (and anything) defined as belonging to a department will only be available (visible) for that departments views.
