Has anyone evaluated other (lower cost) software products to track projects and provide managers with a status dashboard of active projects?
Here’s my list of products to investigate (Basecamp, BetterMeans, Open Atrium, ManyMoon, Trello, Open Pro, Insight, I-lign, Brightworks, Bamboo Solutions, Cherwell).
Help if you have looked into any of these products!
Hi, no, I never have, but don’t rule out Project 2013. This is very low cost at the moment (as it’s FOC in preview!). The reason I mention this is that the reporting has changed hugely, and is superb – see screen shots.
The reports are customisable, you can create new ones, copy them to the Global for use in other Projects, print the output, or copy to PowerPoint etc. The individual charts etc are Office Art objects, so can be further formatted in PowerPoint etc. This is one of my fav features.
I looked at BrightWork and liked what I saw for dashboard reporting. However, I am not trying to replace Project; rather, I’m trying to replace our shareware ticketing system that we use for project communication and documentation. BrightWork is a Sharepoint-based system that works with Project, but I wouldn’t use it instead of Project. Have you looked at @Task?
