Is there a way to password lock specific columns in MS Project, similar to how you can protect a MS Excel file? I don’t want to lock the whole document, only some of the columns to ensure they are not altered.

Also, lock the document so tasks cannot be created or deleted.

The answer is No. Some columns are editable and some are calculated, but there is no way to prevent a user from editing a value. A better solution is by using VBA macros – http://bsaiprasad.wordpress.com/2014/11/05/protecting-baseline-fields/. In this blog post, I have demonstrated if the Baseline fields (Baseline Start, Baseline Finish, Baseline Work, Baseline Cost, Baseline Duration) is edited, Project will cancel the operation. You might want to change to your needs.
