      Hi,

In MS Project, how do I configure to have a primary resource on a task , and when this primary resource is on vacation the task need to allocate another resource from resource pool automatically. Please help.

      Thanks

Surya, sorry but Project doesn’t have that capability.

Hi Larry, Thank you . I am trying to estimate the timeline for multiple sub projects depending on the limited resources we have ( some will be on vacation few weeks), when one resource goes on vacation other will take over and will complete the subproject. Do you suggest any other alternative approaches to compute the timelines.

        Thanks

To be honest I think most people would just have the PM log on and take over for the two weeks. If you need to show that in the project schedule then either a separate task or add that person to the task. Either case it’s a manual process. My suggestion…KISS (think simple. Not the answer you wanted but hope it might help you think of something that works for you.
