I am making a schedule for an upcoming week long shutdown with multiple shifts. The night shift will run from 6pm-6am. So, some summary tasks will begin on one day and start on the next. For some reason, whenever this happens the duration is shown as zero and they are being formatted as both summary tasks and milestones. Any ideas why?

      cbass1224,
This happens when the summary task’s duration is computed using a calendar that contains no working time between the start and finish dates that roll up from the subtasks. E.g. a summary task covering one shift of overnight (6-to-6) work will have zero duration according to the Standard (8-to-5) calendar. For 2- or 3-shift operation, you may want to use a 24-hour project calendar – along with the necessary adjustments – that would get inherited by the summary tasks. Alternately, you could apply 24-hour task calendars only to specific summary tasks. There is always some confustion to work through when mixing calendars. Good luck, tom
