Does anyone know how to scale the timeline to show a specific date range?  I located a post (https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2013_release-project/timeline-timescale-setting-in-project-2013/06e104c1-5de8-4b8a-bbdf-fa4613f0fd88?auth=1) that says:

The Timeline shows the entire project from start to finish date – even if you don’t have tasks added to the timeline.
I can reproduce what you report and cannot seem to find an elegant way of changing the formatting short of changing task durations and forcing a re-paint of the timeline scale.

      Am I missing something?

Sheryl, No. It is not possible to change the range preset. Regards, –Ismet

I realise this is an old post but in case anyone else reads it and wonders:-)

You can change the date range by clicking on the timeline date line, then going to Format > Date Range and input the range you want to show.

In response to Ian’s post, the option to adjust the timescale of your timeline is only available in the Project PROFESSIONAL version, and not in Standard. I have been doing extensive research trying to make it work and have decided to just create a custom timeline in MS Excel to suit this particular need.

I have Project professional, and I am able to set the date range for a specific timeline. The problem is that I can only do that for the first time. It doesn’t allow me to change the date range a second time for the same timeline (the button is grayed).it seems it’s one-time change that cannot be edited again. Anyone know the solution?
