I am not getting the default ‘Gantt with timeline view’ for a particular project file in MSP-Professional 2010. I cross-checked options and the default view setting is okay. I had to use split view and timeline check box to see the timeline with Gantt.
Project I’ve inherited appears to have locked tasks on the Timeline. I can remove tasks to display on Timeline, but not add new ones. Anyone encountered this or am I missing something really evident? Thanks for any assistance!
Hey, Ellen – how are you doing. It’s been a long time.
Anything you want to remove from the Timeline just right click on the task on select Add to timeline and it will remove it. You can also double click on the task and there is an option at the bottom of the General page to display on the timeline.
When you use Timeline view go for higher level tasks (Summaries) and Milestones. Too much detail can’t be seen. Look at my Nov 2011 article for more info. https://www.lehnertcs.com/pdfs/201111_ezine.pdf

Thanks for the quick response, El! Hope all is well with you.
Tried both of those options and it’s as if there’s an override preventing me from adding new tasks to the timeline. Any other ideas? Thanks in advance!

I worked with Ellen and to solve the problem we removed all items from the Timeline view and started over. It worked fine after that. We are unsure why this occurred but removing and starting over seemed to fix the problem.
