      Good Afternoon!

Does anyone know of an easy way to update an existing project site with a new enterprise template in 2010?

      Thanks in advance

      Linda

Linda, this would be somewhat of the official post. If this doesn’t help there are more if you search for them or let me know if you are having specific issues:

Thanks, Larry. I took a look. I don’t seem to have a Solutions link under Galleries to activate it (Go to Site Settings | Galleries | Solutions, select Solution and Activate (ribbon button)). Not sure if that was just an original step prior to adding it to the Enterprise Project Types.

I have successfully created a template, updated the Enterprise Project Types to use it and confirmed that new sites are now being created with the new template. I haven’t found a way to update site that were published prior to the new template other than recreating everything manually for each.

Unfortunately you cannot merge a site to another site template. You have to either incorporate the important differences from one to the other or start from scratch and migrate the data. The best approach that can help manage changes is to use SharePoint content types and site columns. By using this approach you can make changes to every site or list that uses that content type.
      Hope that helps…
