11/13/2008 Northeast Connect WebNLearn: The Power of Integrating Visio 2007 and Project 2007
Effective project management requires the use of visual diagrams, such as work breakdown structures, Gantt charts, and timelines. Through a combination of both native and COM add-in features, Microsoft Office Project 2007 and Microsoft Office Visio 2007 provide powerful integration capabilities. Visio provides tools for accessing Project timelines and Gantt chart data from the Visio Data menu. From Project, there are several Visio templates available that use the Project Visual Reports tool for creating Visio diagrams. The Visio Connector for Project/EPM/SPS provides additional tools that enhance the integration between Project and Visio. During this session you will learn how to: generate Visio process flow diagrams with critical path from project schedules, generate project schedules from Visio WBS and process flow diagrams, diagram the status of scheduled tasks, create Visio timelines from project schedules, and use PivotDiagrams with Project data. Please join us for this special LiveMeeting online session sponsored by the Connecticut chapter of MPUG and featuring Matthew Roderman, Visio Solutions Specialist for Microsoft’s Northeast District.

11/18/2008 WebNLearn: Business Benefits of Mature Scheduling Practices
Project managers can waste a lot of time on creating their schedules if they don't set them up the right way in the first place. Symptoms of poor scheduling capability include complaints from project managers about the effort it takes to report on their projects, ever-changing baselines and an originally approved schedule that magically disappears, and critical paths that are often incomplete and that don't reflect your expectations. In this presentation, project management expert trainer Eric Uyttewaal will discuss why scheduling is important and what organizations can do to improve their scheduling practices and capability. He will present a scheduling maturity model and discuss the steps to develop the scheduling capability within your organization.
