MPUG at Microsoft Project Conference 2012Microsoft Opens Project Conference 2012

Microsoft kicked off Project Conference 2012 in Phoenix this morning with a keynote featuring Kirk Koenigsbauer, corporate vice president of the Office Division Product Management Group. While the last Project conference introduced a new edition of the company's popular project management application, this show intends to focus on how organizations in the private and public sector are using the software in IT, marketing, finance, and R&D. Read a blog about the keynote here.

According to Koenigsbauer, Microsoft Project is in use within 82 of the Fortune 100, including global cosmetics firm Revlon. There, the IT department sought a way to optimize its project planning, reduce the number of meetings, and gain more visibility into project data. With a combination of Project Server 2010, Visual Studio Team Foundation Server 2010, and the Project Server Integration Feature Pack, the company introduced a number of efficiencies into its operations, reducing meeting time by 30 percent and increasing productivity by two to five percent.
