Description

The course begins by providing an overview of the benefits of a well-structured project plan and the overall approach to using MS Project as a critical path modeling tool. Approaches to estimating and modeling resource and cost requirements are taught, as well as the use of project and resource calendars to support resource leveling and critical path determination.

The second class will begin with a review of the various work and predecessor types within MS Project, and how they support modeling the project’s critical path. You will then learn how structure project plans so that they leverage the calendars, work types and dependencies effectively to determine the optimal project plan for the resources and work required.

The third class describes how to use resource leveling to determine timelines and resource requirements for projects. This lesson outlines an iterative process using resource, constraint and Gantt chart views to optimize the project timeline and budget, including techniques for leveling large, multi-phase projects.

This course is eligible for 3 PMI® PDU in the Technical category of the Talent Triangle.
