Hi,
Can anyone tell me how to make a task start x days before the set deadline?
I´m using MS Project Online 2016
Thanks
Kennet
Kennet;
I’m not aware of a method to schedule a task to start x days before its own deadline (field) date. If I need to do this, I will typically add a constrained (must finish on) milestone, create a dependency between the task and milestone and then add a negative lag to the relationship.
If the activity has no real predecessor or the task needs to be as tight as possible to the deadline/milestone, you can configure the task to be “As late as possible” which will force the task as close to the successor milestone as possible, while honoring the negative lag gap. In this model, if the milestone is ever moved, the task would float along with the moved milestone.
Kennet;
Slight correction.
Set up the deadline milestone as indicated. Then set up the task as a predecessor to the milestone with a positive lag value. Sorry about that.
Thanks a lot Daryl.
