One of the primary goals of a Project Management Office (PMO) is to define and maintain project management standards across an organization. But once the standards are in place, it’s often challenging to ensure project managers and other team members follow these measures.
With a little creativity, Microsoft Project is an excellent tool for supporting adoption of the best practices that support governance activities. During this fun and informative session, Ira Brown – an industry leader and recognized Microsoft Project expert – will reveal features available to help standardize key project management activities across your portfolio. A few of these techniques include the following:
- Ensuring users are unable to delete mandatory tasks from their projects
- Preventing conditions in a project that might hinder Microsoft Project’s ability to properly calculate the project schedule
- Supporting reporting requirements by ensuring a task’s Display Name is not too long for a specific report
- Preventing the ability to change the name of key milestones that are required to support organizational reporting
