      Having difficulty pinpointing what is causing a mass change to durations and making tasks milestones that have already been completed months ago. This occurred throughout multiple functional areas, phases throughout the project and across resources. It appears that adding a resource to a task in Work under Details in Gantt view triggers it. Why would this be a trigger?

      I don’t have a solution, but here’s some questions that may help others…
      What version (and CU if known) of Project is this occurring on?
      Are you using resource assignments on summary tasks?
      Are the disappearing hours only on tasks, or do they disappear on resources assigned to summary tasks also?
      Specifically, when you add the resource…
      Are you adding the resource to a task or a summary task?
      Is the resource an enterprise resource or local resource?

      MS Project 2013 Pro
      no resource assignments on summary tasks
      hours disappear on tasks AND the resources assigned to tasks
      local resource

      Sorry Anna, I don’t have a solution either. It doesn’t work that way and I can’t think of any scenario that would do that. One more question, is it happening on just one project? If so it might be some corruption in that project. If updates have all been applied I don’t know what else I can suggest. Sorry about that…

      Anna – Did you try recreating this issue a new blank project?
